BASF Chile Receives ISO 50001 Certification for Energy Efficiency System
BASF Chile, a leading organization in providing high-quality products for the chemical industry, received certification for an Energy Efficiency System based on the international standard ISO 50001:2018.
ABS Quality Evaluations (ABS QE) Chile issued this certification, supporting BASF Chile in becoming the first major chemical industry in the country to receive this recognition.
ABS QE Chile's Deputy Manager of Customer Service Rossina Moreno delivered the certificate and congratulations to Nicolás Pizarro, Concón Site Management and Manuel Antonio González who led the implementation. This certification is the result of resilient teamwork that required high requirements and several hours of work.
This endeavor was carried out at a special time in Chile, following the recent approval of the first Energy Efficiency Law seeking to promote energy management in large consumers. The final impact will reduce the energy consumption of main players in the mining, forestry, agricultural, chemical, transportation and construction sectors.
This new law aims to increase energy efficiency in the use of energy sources, avoid waste, reduce the energy costs on the national economy and to enhance sustainable development. Companies with high energy consumption will be required to implement an Energy Management System.
