Õ¬Äе¼º½ and ABS Share Offshore Wind Knowledge in Taiwan
ABS and its subsidiary Õ¬Äе¼º½ recently held an Offshore Wind Farm Seminar for more than 70 offshore wind professionals at shipbuilder CSBC's offices in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The seminar, built on Õ¬Äе¼º½ and ABS' global offshore wind experience and services, examined potential issues in developing offshore wind projects in Taiwan including design, construction, installation, certification, quality assurance and risk assessment of typhoons and earthquakes.
"We are proud that CSBC invited Õ¬Äе¼º½ and ABS to share our insights in support of Taiwan's emerging wind energy market as we continue to strengthen our footprint in the global offshore wind industry," says Torsten Muuss, Director of Global Renewable Energy for Õ¬Äе¼º½. "Based on our safety and risk assessments for 11+ GW of offshore wind projects globally, and as the Certified Verification Agent for the first U.S. offshore wind farm, we believe we bring a significant contribution to this emerging market."
"ABS has a strong relationship with the Taiwanese Shipping community and we are eager to extend that to the offshore wind sector, assisting operators and producers in meeting the required certification scope set forth by IEC 61400-22 requirements and the ABS Guidelines for Building and Classing both Floating and Bottom-Founded Offshore Wind Turbine Installations," says Pier Carazzai, ABS Global Business Development Director.
Suresh Bheema, Õ¬Äе¼º½ Senior Vice President of Technical Inspection and Verification, added that the seminar was an opportunity for Õ¬Äе¼º½ to summarize the Company's lessons learned having served as the independent, third-party Certified Verification Agent for the Block Island Wind Farm, the first U.S. offshore wind farm.
