Regulatory Update on OSHA's Revised Chemical National Emphasis Program

May 9, 2017

NEWS ADVISORY—Õ¬Äе¼º½ will provide a regulatory update and webinar covering the revised compliance directive for chemical facilities and petroleum refineries from the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on Wednesday, May 10, at 10 am CDT.

The OSHA issued compliance directive CPL 03-00-021 (PSM Covered Chemical Facilities National Emphasis Program) went into effect on January 17, 2017. This instruction describes an OSHA Chemical National Emphasis Program (CNEP) for inspecting facilities with highly hazardous chemicals and replaces the old directive number CPL 03-00-014. CNEP inspections will now be conducted in the same manner at both chemical facilities and petroleum refineries.

James Thompson, Õ¬Äе¼º½ PSM Manager and lead author of Guidelines for Implementing Process Safety Management published by the Center for Chemical Process Safety, will share his regulatory insights in the webinar, OSHA's Revised Chemical National Emphasis Program (CPL 03-00-021), which will be presented live with a Q&A session and will be archived for future reference. The webinar will provide a comparison of the revised and former OSHA compliance directives and will provide guidance as to how to prepare for an OSHA inspection under the new NEP.

A comprehensive overview of the revised CNEP as well as a summary from Õ¬Äе¼º½'s Risk and Safety Management and PSM experts will be provided as an additional information resource for webinar attendees.
